Tennis on s62

anyway I can add tennis as a sport on my s62? I can only see a preset number of activities on the watch and tennis is not there.

however, it does appear on the activities in the garmin connect app on the phone. For the moment the only way around I found was registering as a different activity (running f example) and then editing the activity on the phone and switching to tennis.

I believe there should be a way around this to have it directly on the watch?

thanks!

  • Hello, there isn't an option for tennis on the device. Editing a different activity (such as cardio or running) would be the only option for the watch directly.

There may be a tennis app you can download to your watch using the Garmin Connect IQ app.

Connect IQ Store | Free Watch Faces and Apps | Garmin

Just make sure you click on the Compatible Devices tab, as the Approach S62 may or may not be compatible with certain apps.

  • Hi Rob, big thanks for your reply.

although I do find it surprising. I do not see the technical problem of adding tennis as an activity, only to measure step count and HR…

I know it is a golf watch, but for the price tag of 500€, I do believe there are too many imposed limitations which don’t make much sense

  • Do You need a golf watch to measure steps and heart rate? I get that without playing golf Slight smile

I would assume You meant pace of arm swing, tennis ball speed etc..

  • If The s62 doesn’t measure the pace of arm swing while I’m playing golf, I don’t expect it to measure it in tennis… But it can for sure measure number of strikes. In any case, it is software blocked so no tennis can be measured directly…

  • The S62 measures swing speed in golf, so not totally correct.

However, you mentioned steps and heart rate, and fir that You could probably choose running.

In any case, the S62 is biased towards golf, but there are clear similarities between the 2 sports, so I assume Garmin could do something if they wanted to.

After all, a golf shot is a 2 hand tennis shot with a different club.

  • I haven’t found this feature where it measures swing speed. Do you need the CT sensors or does it do it with only the watch?

that was exactly my point, although the s62 is biased towards golf, if they wanted, they could add these features (which are already there in any case).

  • If You click the red button and then the 4 colored circles, You can select activity and other stuff.

Last one, on my watch at least, is swing tempo.

i'm Norwegian, so my menu is in Norwegian. So not sure what the English text would be.

But it's not swing speed, it's the time it takes to do a back and downswing. Which is kind of important for golfers.

The swing speed / arm speed is measured as club head speed at impact. Not idrectly Your arms of course, but club head speed is a function of it. The watch can not measure this, but can be measured with a radar like R10.
