A golf watch really needs a minimum of 4 buttons to work well, unless there is a touch screen at play. PLEASE consider this for your next line of approach watches or any really that support the golf activity. There are such obvious usability needs that should have been developed for any watches that have 4 buttons.
| Upper Left Button (1) | Upper Right Button (2) |
| Lower Left Button (3) | Lower Right Button (4) |
If we assume a 4 button layout we can have identical functionality across all watches. There's two modes of operation presently: Fairway, and on the Green.
Fairway:
1. Manual Add Shot / Penalty
2. Settings / Action Menu
3. Rotate through hazards
4. Back
Green
1. Add Putt (with confirmation?)
2. Settings / Action Menu
3. Finalize Score
4. Back
Just a few small simple changes and every watch is 200% more useful while golfing. No more digging through menus to add shots that don't get detected. Putts that get tracked easily and with location. Penalties as they happen. I know you want to sell those CT10 tags, but even those don't detect shots 100% of the time or even fit (or stay put for that matter) on every putter grip.
It seems like every feature request on these boards is 2+ years old with no communication or movement. If there's not enough resources or every request is stuck in middle management land, just open source the watch's golf app. I've looked at the Connect IQ Developer documentation, and assuming it's what your apps are built on -- this would take me a day to do. If Garmin is unwilling to put in the effort, let some of the passionate community improve the things they use.
