Conflicting Distances

On the course, the GPS says I have a distance to the green, it is up hill and into a strong wind.

I hit my shot and the watch says I hit it 133 yards.

Get home to check online and that shot registered as 119 yards on Garmin Connect.

How are the club averages determined?

Is the watch calculating linear distance or does it "played as" using the wind and uphill?

  • Club averages and distances shown on the map are determined by actual distance. This is likely due to the fact that the Garmin App supports many different devices and not all of them support "Plays like" distances.

"Plays like" distances are notated on the watch with the dots/arrows but that's the only place you will see them. Wind is never a consideration with any of the numbers and you might be overestimating the technology if you think it should be factored in real-time.

    Hope this helped.

  • Good question. Never mind Plas like ect.

Why if you hit it 133 (according to the watch when you stand next to your ball), does Garmin connect show 119?
