Wrong stroke count

For some reason, the stroke count on the scorecard does not correspond with the stokes on the map (which is the correct count. Here on hole 2, the scorecard registers 3 strokes, but the map displays correctly 5 strokes. Am I doing something wrong? Using the CT10.

  • Since you have the CT10 it should have registered all your shots, but in this case the watch has missed recording the last approach shot.  It's probably because your shot was a gentle one and the watch has not been able figure out that you actually hit a ball.  I don't have the CT10 sensors and will get asked to enter the club I used when hitting normal shots.  Most times for those short/soft chip shots I don't get prompted which means the watch doesn't have a clue that I have just hit the ball, albeit very softly - seems to be one of the limitations associated with Garmin golf watches; their sensitivity to measure softly hit shots needs additional adjustment.

  • yes.

The scorecard and the graphic are not in synch, and never have been. Editing either doesn't affect the other.

The scorecard is driven by you agreeing the number of shots after each hole. The graphic is driven by the CT10 or the club selection. They are not aligned to my knowledge

  • Thank you for your answer. This is just crazy though, right? It is the same with connect.garmin.com - the scorecard is correct, the map is... almost useless...

  • While I usually notice my map misses showing strokes, I now realise this might be different in your case.  What was your actual score for that hole, 3 or 5?  The scorecard # is based on you confirming your total stroke count for the hole e.g total strokes including putts, # of putts taken and for Par 4 and 5 holes where did your tee shot land.  That's what happens for me without the CT10 as I have to manually identify which club I used after each shot.  The CT10 is supposed to let that bit occur automatically.

in this case if you did shoot 3 but the map is showing 5 maybe some practice swings are being triggered as real shots.  On your map, what club is associated with shots #2 and #3.  Need to have someone else with the CT10 confirm the exact steps that occur when they have CT10 in use.  Everything I've said is what happens for me without the CT10 being involved.

  • Thank you.  This is the scorecard from connect.garmin.com. The correct strokes are 4. Since it is a par 3 hole and I have to extra shots, my score is 3. The map shows this:

Which is quite correct - I could wish for the list to the right to reach 4 strokes (slag), but ok.

The problem is the first image in the original post - it shows 3 strokes.

I am confused! Compare the very first image with this one:

(Slag is Strokes) So the stroke count is 8,4,7,6,6 - compare this to the first image: 7,3,7,5,5. Astonished

  • The dots on this scorecard indicate you get two strokes on Hole #2 and 3 strokes on Hole #3 during your play.  Looks to me like your watch is set for Stabelford scoring.  For the picture with 18 holes, it's showing the Stableford score for each hole, but then shows your Total Gross strokes (120) in the Samlet column rather than your total Stableford points for the round.

On the last scorecard above, for Hole #2 you grossed 4 strokes, get 2 strokes as the handicap allowance for a net 2 which is Birdie for you under Stableford so 3 points.  You played PW, SW and putter to get the ball onto the green, then took 2 putts to hole out.  The map might be wrong because you used putter twice but I can't say for sure.

Now starting to think things are being recorded correctly with your CT10's but the display is confusing because it's showing a mix of Stableford points and gross without labelling correctly.

  • Thanks Owen! I think you are right, the display is confusing with a mix of Stableford and Stroke Play.

And the map is wrong... And the stroke count shown in the first image is wrong...

I am just surprised that Garmin allows such an error in their Golf App?

After the round, my buddy ask me how I did on hole 2 (because he made it in 3). I can't see it on my watch, so I pick up the phone and sees there very first image I posted. First I say 3 strokes - because that is what the app shows. He complains - and I agree - I made it in 4 I remember. Then I look at the score and see that I got 3 points - which is correct and which means I made it in 4 strokes.

Apparently this in an old error - why doesn't Garmin fix this???
