Do you think there will be new model coming soon?

I had my S62 watch stolen a few weeks ago.

The S62 came out in Jan 2020 so I am wondering if there may be a new model coming in the 6 months.

I presume no-one knows but I am tempted to wait and see if they bring out one with an AMOLED display.

My wife has the Venu 2 watch with the AMOLED display and it is so much brighter than the S62 golf watch that has a Sunlight-visible, transflective memory-in-pixel (MIP) display.

The S60 came out in June 2017 so there 2.5 years before the S62 came out.

Any guesses on timeframes?

Thanks

  • The new Garmin Epix 2 is ALMOST a perfect replacement / upgrade.  It has a great AMOLED screen and tons of other health and fitness tracking features.  The Golf app has maps, distances, direction to pin, "plays like" (but only slope adjusted) and shot tracking.  However, it does not have virtual caddy,  it does not take wind into account with "plays like" and it does not have the new Green Contour maps.  This is such a shame as it would be a perfect watch for golfers if they included these features.  For the price of the Epix2 I can buy the S62 and the Venu 2 (smartwatch) and still have A$200 left over.  Come on Garmin....  Include the premium golf features and I will gladly fork out A$1,500 for the Epix 2.  Otherwise, I guess we wait to see if the next version of the S62 has an AMOLED screen.

  • I decided not to wait for an AMOLED replacement for the S62 (after having my original S62 stolen) & bought another one.

I then saw this review of the Epix 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6w6OQ6bnxs and I agree with you - why did Garmin not include all of golf features in the Epix 2.

The price of the Epix 2 in the UK is £899. I paid £359 in a sale for the S62. The normal price ranges from £399 to £499.

£540 extra for the AMOLED screen with fitness features but minus the virtual caddie features and not being able to pair the CT10 sensors either far too much.

I suppose it is a fitness watch primarily with some of the golf features added in.

I suspect that Garmin will bring out an AMOLED replacement for the S62 late this year.
