S62 cannot be connected to the Garmin Connect app or the ConnectIQ app

The Garmin Connect app doesn’t allow to pair S62 directly and it will always redirect to the golf app to do so. Likely as a result of pairing with the golf app, weather on the watch cannot update and keeps saying the phone has no data for it. A related problem is that ConnectIQ app cannot see the watch either. 

Could Garmin please fix your apps ?
