Please, is it possible to add AW (Approach Wedge) to list of clubs?
Thanks

Correct, which is why it's definitely not ideal to rename it. We are hoping that we can give you guys the ability to flat out create a club and also add more club options to the list, such as the 7 Wood…
My Lob Wedge is 60 degrees
My Sand Wedge is 56 degrees
My Gap Wedge is 52 degrees
My Approach Wedge is 48 degrees
My Pitching Wedgeis 43 degrees
That is why I would like to have AW in my list of clubs
The approach wedge option is currently offered, however we have it labeled as gap wedge in the updated club list available to add in the Golf Bag section of the Garmin Golf app, or in the gear section of Garmin Connect web .
The terms Approach wedge, and Gap wedge are synonymous to each other. Depending on the manufacturer, the set may have AW or GW printed on the wedge, and will vary on degree it is set at, typically between 50-53 degrees in loft.
If you would rather the name of the club to show, "Approach Wedge" ...or "AW" simply edit and change the name for the Gap wedge option offered and add it to your golf bag to sync over to your compatible Garmin golf device.
Per our current update on the discussion thread elated to the concern you are mentioning, we are in the process of looking into a resolution for the concern with clubs recently added to the list of options appearing at the bottom. There is also a workaround specifically outlined in my verified response on the post as well.
The Golf team here at Garmin indeed consists of golfers, and we play with the same products you all use...we understand firsthand that it is not ideal when concerns arise with the golf products/features we offer. Everyone at every level within Garmin Golf is working diligently to implement improvements, updates, and new features.
It's not that simple.
Yes, if the pw is 46 degree and You have a sw of 56, then aw and gw could be the same around 50-52.
But with the race for distance most maufacturers now have shifted up one club in loft, so pw's now have a loft of 43-44.
So then we need 2 wedges between pw and sw, one around 48 (aw), and one around 52 (gw).
Regardless of their alias, there should be an option for having 2 wedges between pw and sw.
And should not be too difficult to understand?
Garmin-Cody:
1) Thank you for replying. it's nice to know that the comments are not falling into a black hole.
2) I get what you are saying that they are synonymous, but most iron sets are now coming with 4-5 wedges (PW, AW, GW, SW and possibly a LW.) If a person were to go that route they can't match up with the current club choice offerings on the Garmin App with the letters on the bottom of their clubs.
For Example, Callaway Rogue wedges are as follows:
PW- 41 degrees
AW- 46 degrees
GW- 51 degrees
SW- 56 degrees
Under the current options in the Garmin app you can't add all four wedges without going to a PW Hybrid or something else. What would be your solution to this issue?
OR...
Is a possible solution allowing the end user to not only modify the Club Type but also the Lie Angle?
With the manufacturers not playing by the same specs (ex: Callaway PW is a 41 degree and TaylorMade PW is 45 degree) the proposed would solve the issue.
As others pointed out: It's not AW or GW. Often it's both.
Can't be that hard to figure out a solutuion to Add the Option for an AW that it takes more than two years and the ticket is still open...
I have to say I'm pretty disappointed. I used arccos for years and switched to garmin because I don't like to use my phone on the course. But will most likely return my garmin stuff and go back to using arccos if it's not even possible to add 5 Wedges...
I just talked to someone on garmin Helpdesk. There is not even an entry in their database for the Problem of the missing AW.
They suggested I write a feature request and told me the forums are something seperate and not connected to the database. I did that just now. So if anyone would like to push this matter forward I suggest you also write a feature request du garmin.
??
Are the Garmin representatives in here not even bothering reporting issues and suggestions?
Some threads 2 years "gauging interest"?
Explains sort of why nothing is happening, but does not explain why I even bother using this forum.
I just submitted a request using your link. I hope they can move quickly on this but I think they'll need to hear from quite a few people to make this happen.
it look that this FORUM is just waisting of our time ... no real help from GARMIN site after 2 years .. GARMIN does not read this forum
We have the Approach Wedge labeled as Gap Wedge. Approach Wedge and Gap Wedge are synonymous.
Same with Attack wedge, typically filling in distances between the pitching wedge and the sand wedge, so the name will vary depending on the manufacturer of your clubs.
If you would rather the club show up in your list and on your watch as AW, you can simply edit the name of the club and sync your device to reflect the changes.
