Powering off during round

When playing golf my s62 is constantly trying to power off. I think my wrist is pressing the middle button and the power off display comes up.

can anyone help prevent this happening?

I think it’s my wrist pressing the button as I swing. Not ideal design for a golf watch.

Wearing the watch slightly higher up my wrist and tucking the top of my glove inside solved it for me.

It is possible this may be related to a software bug. We would like to ensure the device is updated using Garmin Express.

Getting the watch to power off simply by pressing the button with your wrist is unlikely as you have to long press the menu button to get the prompt to shut off, and then you have to press the screen to accept or cancel the action. To bypass the message on the screen you would need to hold the menu button in for additional 15 seconds.

It doesn’t power off completely it just brings up the cross and tick screen. Sometimes I have to cancel it four or five times after taking a shot to clear the screen.

That is odd. It is possible I suppose that maybe your wrist is bumping the button. Are you able to tighten the strap so that your watch sits a bit higher up on your wrist so that the back of your hand can't bump it? You could also try sliding the back of the watch to the front of your wrist while golfing. That may allow the watch to avoid certain hand movements that would result in that button being pushed.

It’s most definitely my wrist hitting the power button. Evidenced by the the fact that I broke the skin exactly where the power button would hit my wrist. Clearly I need to work on my grip and wrist position since it only happens after I make a poor shot.

It’s a design flaw in the location of the power button of the S62 . I have the same issue in cold weather. Why? Because I layer clothing with long sleeves like a pullover and a light jacket or just a jacket. I wear the watch on my left hand, so the power button is on the side of my hand. The long sleeves push the watch towards my hand and either my hand or the glove pushes on the power button. Sometimes I catch the message asking if I really want to power off or not, but many times the button gets pressed again and it shuts off. It’s very frustrating because shots are not recorded.

I have tried to adjust several things like tightening the watch strap, pulling down my glove, rolling my glove, other gloves, pushing up my sleeves, etc. I tried putting the watch on my right hand, but I just don’t like it there. None of these solved the problem.

I don’t recall having the issue when not wearing long sleeves. It’s very disappointing because the fix would be to merely place the power button elsewhere like maybe on top or on the face.

So, design flaw.
