Approach S62: Call notifications are not working.

Good day

Call notifications are not working on my Approach S62. All other notifications work correctly. Device: Samsung Galaxy Note 10. Please assist with resolving this problem.

  • Oeps, and I was only thinking that I missed a check-box.
    Well, than it is a very annoying error. Constantly missing phonecalls. Unacceptable. Please Garming, do something about it!!

  • I am not convinced that this is related to the Golf app.  I've had solid notifications for 2-3 days without even opening the app or playing a round of golf and then notifications stop.  Are you saying that the golf app autostarts?  I've also had success stopping the connect app and turning off bluetooth and not touching the golf app or forcing it to stop.  

  • Not sure ,  but it’s as if when Bluetooth is lost between the phone and watch eg out of range or either of them switched off etc ; that when it tries to re establish a Bluetooth connection it can’t for some reason send notifications eg a conflict in the apps ?? Other processes/data works though between them , just not notifications?? 
    For me force stopping the Connect app doesn’t always fix the problem , whereas force stopping the golf app has so far always been successful in reconnecting and the notifications working agin 

    just my experience so far ! 

  • Most recently when the notifications stop working, I've found that simply cycling the Bluetooth on my Note 10 + reestablishes the notifications for a period of time. BTW the applications are still connected and can synch even when the notifications stop working. 

    One  other thing I've done - with some success - is to TURN OFF "Optimize battery Usage" for both the Garmin Golf and Connect Applications - but I'm not sure if this is the final answer. 

  • I have found a workaround that gets notifications to work again every time, but it is only temporary. I used to have to do this everyday, sometimes multiple times a day, but recently I have found that I can go a week or more with notifications working before having to take these steps.  I open the golf app, look for the green check mark to show the watch as connected, then I power off the watch, wait for the device icon in the app to turn red, then power the watch back on and wait for the green check mark connected icon in the golf app again.  This is quick and does resolve the issue for a period.  I shouldn't have to do this all the time with a $500 watch but it does allow it to work as intended.  I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G.  

  • Here’s a new one : 

    notifications were working fine , took watch of to charge it ( still powered on ) ; watch fully charged, back on wrist  and notifications stopped working !!!

     Madness !!! Grrrrrr 

  • I just purchased the S62 and used for the last 2 days. Great on the golf course. Then no notifications today.  I tried to turn on and off, double checked settings, nothing. Then I searched and found this discussion. I am returning it and will continue to use my VA3 with the golf app as I have no issues.

  • Not that I’m aware of Thinking  Phoned Garmin UK last week to ‘ enquire’ as to why so it’s been an issue for so long and not been fixed Rage…Usual reply “ we are working on it and should be soon “ …. !!!
