If you move the pin position pre approach shot, does it register how close you hit your approach shot on the stats by using the new pin position?, if not then how does the S62 work out how close your approach shots go.

Sorry I don't believe it does - the watch assumes putts as soon as you are close to the green. Having a CT10 on the putter might provide some additional info; someone with those will have to confirm if that is the case.
It doesn't know correct pin location even you move pin. Because of this specially short game and putting statistics are rubbish. And seems that Garmin is not interested to develop this feature. More info at link
No idea what these other guys are talking about. If you move the pin then yes, the approach distance is based on the location of the pin you set. And yes, if you use a CT10 on your putter then your exact putt location is recorded for measuring the distance (the watch can still do this without the CT10, however it is hard to get it to register delicate putts).
The link that 9191335 posted is a suggestion to AUTOMATICALLY be prompted move the pin based on where your putts end up. It has nothing to do with what OP is asking, which is what happens when you manually adjust the pin location.
i thought as much , it made sense that if you move the pin the yardage changes on the approach shot so it would have an effect on the other yardages
When you move pin position it affect only approach shot distance which watch shows to you. It doesn't register new pin position, it always assume that pin is center of green. Because of this you never know how close you hit your approach shot. And because of this all approach/short game/putting statistics are rubbish even you use CT-10.
