New user - some basic questions plz

Hi all, very new user - took the watch out on the course for the first time yesterday and a bit baffled about how it all works. Few questions if I can and apologies in advance if some or all have been asked before.

- I'm aware Virtual Caddie won't start until I've completed 5 rounds, but in performance stats I can't see any club stats. Does this also only start after 5 rounds ??

- What do you do on mishits or more 'creative' shots (8i bump and run around the green etc) so that they don't bring down your averages? During my round after those shots I just pressed the bottom right button to skip the which club question, but is there a better way?

- Handicap Q - I've entered my current handicap on the app, but in my performance stats it shows a different handicap (no doubt based only on the round I'v'e just played). For practice / fun rounds in future, do I need to turn handicap off?

- I saw a previous post mentioning that you can change or edit your clubs used in the scorecard section post-round, but when I go into Scorecards>Edit the only thing I can see that I can change is Fairway, (or miss left/right) and number of putts. How can I change or add the club used on different holes?

Really pleased to have joined the S62 community and thanks in advance for the help!

  • Club stats are not in Performance Stats, they are in Club performance.  It's lower on the left hand nav of the app.

There is only one method that I have heard of to keep your "creative" short shots and recovery shots from bringing down your averages that I know of, and that is to keep one sensor designated as "Other" or some kind of name that is easily identifiable, and then no matter what club you actually used for the shot, go back and manually change that shot to the "Other" club..  Not ideal but will work.

The in app handicap will never match your GHIN or official handicap exactly ( except by random chance ) but over time it will get closer and remain fairly close.

The editing process in the mobile app is cumbersome at best, but if you haven't figured it out, you can also sync your S62 to your PC after your round and edit it on your PC in the Garmin Connect app.  That is much easier to do than trying to edit a whole round on your mobile device.  You can change clubs for any shot, shot location, score for the hole, pretty much anything.

  • Thanks, that's super helpful! Just one more - when I go into Club Performance all my clubs are listed, but no stats - but I have only played 1 round. Do these only kick in after 5 rounds, or has something gone wrong? Cheers!

  • they start working after 5 rounds, almost like magic ..... very cool imo !

  • So next random question from a new user.
ive used other watches with sensor “shotscope v2” and was wondering how I get the data of my round to my, do I have to open the app and start a round on there and the watch syncs to, as I’ve not seen any videos or instructions on how to do this part.
not that I can use it as yet with lockdown.

also just got the CT10 as well so all help is greatly appreciated

  • If you press the back button (lower one on the right side) when asked to select a club it would register the shot without a club. I see that someone also creates a dummy club to register mishits or creative shots

  • @TimmyJ_UK - for use with chunked / mishit shots, I've defined a few nicknames for clubs that are in the app but which I don't have in my bag e.g. FW Misshit, Short Pitch, Chip, Recovery - I use these when I truly mishit the ball or was using a non-typical swing for that club.  Kinda allows my performance stats to better track full swing shots and gives me a handle of how often and where I mess things up.  YMMV,
