When I attempted to replicate any issues between my Approach S62 and the latest version of the Connect IQ APP, I did not experience any issues with connecting to All APPS. I tested with the Connect Mobile APP, the Golf APP, and the Connect IQ APP. I had connection and was able to sync through all 3. I was also able to download a new watch face to my Approach S62 through the Connect IQ APP on my iPhone.
The version I see in the Apple APP store is 2.5.1. The Android version should be close to that for version number. You should not have any issues with compatibility and functionality with the latest Android version of the Connect IQ APP found in your Google Play APP store.
