Notifications have become intermittent. Is my watch defective?

Notifications have stopped working on my watch. I didn't realize until after I got an S60 how much I appreciate this feature! I have gone through the manual, powered off and restarted both my phone and watch several times, uninstalled and reinstalled the Garmin Connect app, nothing seems to be a complete fix. When I reinstall the app notifications may work for a short period. And occasionally they'll work but for the most part this function is no longer operable. Looking for anyone with similar experiences especially if there's a fix available. Have researched as best I can to no avail. Second question, something I really don't want to do if at all possible but what would be the worst case if I reset the watch entirely?

  • in android 11 it is under Storage and Cache in the app information

  • On you Android system go to:

    [Settings]

    Select [Apps]

    Select the Garmin APP [Connect]

    Select [Storage]

    Below on left side of screen you see [Clear Data]

    Below on right side of screen you see [Clear Cache]

    Select those to clear the data and cache.

    Hope it works for you.

  • Cheers , found it now ,. If I delete data /cache what data does it lose ? Will I lose all my golf round settings , info , details etc ?? 

    as a note , I wasn’t getting any notifications today until just 5 mins ago when I turned off my Bluetooth on phone and back on again .. this seems to fix most of the time ( same as going in / out of flight mode ) .  But phone was connected during the day as if I went out of range it notified me ‘disconnected ‘ then back in range ‘ connected ‘ , do Bluetooth was talking between the two devices ...WEIRD ????? 

  • All your data is on line (scorecards, rounds) this is like if you switched phones.

    Notifications seem to be working but don't know if it is truly fixed

  • You can "also force quit the app". its work for a certain amount of time. For me it works... but when i try to reply a message or just love somehing ... nothing happen in the app (like facebook messenger or teams..etc.)

  • Cheers , I’ll hold back deleting and see if the notifications , which seem to be working now, still work tomorrow :-) . Or was it coincidental when I rebooted the phone’s Bluetooth??? 

  • Facebook and Teams ?!!,  I’d be happy just with emails and WhatsApp messages working lol :-) 

  • The problem seem to be here for a long time... several months... i really don,t know what Garmin do...If they want... i can call Elon Musk cause with my tesla... problems are gone in somes hours when they appears lol

  • I initiated this discussion several months ago. I appreciate the info and support, including 1:1 with Garmin engineers. That said, nearly half a year later, the issue appears no closer to being resolved. Notifications remain very hit or miss for me. Occasionally I will receive notifications for apps that I don't want. I'll go back in the smart notifications and in the golf app and even though I didn't set the app to notification status, it will show as on. Fortunately, when notifications do not work, the force stop option is the best fix I've found. It always works. But also seems like that should not be necessary for a $500 watch. And, it's every single day (some days I just don't bother). I sure hope Garmin will have a permanent solution and communicate to S62 owners soon. 

  • hi GGF :  Since my last post 2 days ago all is working ! shock / horror :-)   I've switched phone off / on and charged it too and it still worked even !  I made no changes to the watch or phone , just disabled / re enabled bluetooth on phone ( which was one of the ways it sometimes worked on previous occasions )and since then all ok  #crosses fingers and prays !!  lol   I'll update on here if/when it doesn't work again ... !!!    Hopefully for a £500 watch Garmin would of sorted this by now !!
