Swing tempo feature does not work with S62

Hi,

The native swing tempo feature on my Garmin 62 watch does not register the golf swing. I have tried resetting the watch, and also changing the various swing tempo options, checked that the left hand is the one enabled on the app,  but the watch just not register the swing at all. The reading only shows 0.0 all the time or freezes at some random swing tempo number. I have tried changing the tempo setting but this has not helped too.

I have already written about another issue which relates to the backlight not coming on as I raise my hand and turn my wrist to check the time on the watch. Does the problem relate to the built-in accelerometer?

Now, please do not tell me that there is a software update for all this but this update is not available in my region (India, Asia). I have primarily bought the watch for the swing tempo feature.

My software version as per the mobile app is is 4.37.15, and as per the software update is 2.30  which is the latest version available in my region. I am not using any third party app.

Please help me resolve this issue.

Thanks

Sanjau

  • Gesture is a known issue that remains only for APAC region Approach S62 watches only but it will be resolved once APAC region updates are released for each country SE Asia country. I am sorry, we do not have a timeline on when that will be.

The Swing Tempo section in your manual may help, but my concern is a hardware issue if you cannot get it to register at all. If it continues, please return it or reach out to your region's Garmin Golf Product Support.

  • I had a similar problem with my previous S60 watch.  A complete factory reset seemed to solve the issue and it worked fine after that.  Maybe the same would work for your S62?

Hi I just got a new s62 CT10 Pack yesterday, and I have the same issue, iphone, app and watch totally updated, and the Swing Tempo does not register the movement, I just restored from factory and had the same issue, this is in Spain witch is EMEA  Region.

For all customers that see the most recent post, please note the CT10 sensors are not part of the swing tempo on an Approach S62 watch. The swing tempo feature relies on the accelerometer sensor picking up movement and striking the ball.

Regarding your Swing Tempo issue on your new Approach S62, as long as you have your watch set to the correct wrist you are wearing it on and you are striking a real golf ball, you should receive swing tempo while playing a round of golf. All of your troubleshooting was spot on and should have resolved your issue.

You should return your new Approach S62 back to the retail store as defective, or if outside of the store return period, please reach out to our Spain Golf Product Support team. We will gladly assist further.
