Now that we're suppose to have new handicaps, when will Garmin update its calculations to take this into account?!

Right, the club should always have the PAR, CR and SR for the course available. I was referring to be able to check what the Garmin system has in it's database.
WHS came into effect in the Netherlands…
The Handicap Index is the same around the world, there is just a slight difference in how the Playing Handicap index is calculated. The charts at the course will work out the playing handicap correctly…

This explains it quite well. I'm still not convinced that Garmin have changed the non-UK calculation either…
Hi Marty, the Course Rating and Slope Rating should be displayed at the club you are playing at either in the Pro Shop, near the 1st tee or on a noticeboard. Additionally you can find the information from the MyEG app if you are signed up for that.
Past rounds would be against what your Handicap Index was at the time which is available on the MyEG app. I agree that it would be helpful if that information (or your Course Handicap) was shown in the same place as your scores on the Garmin Connect website but that does not seem to be the case.
ITR was found by trial and error when the WHS came in last year; there was also discussion on one of the threads here as well.

WHS came into effect in the Netherlands last Monday, march 1st. Registering rounds has been troublesome for me using our mobile Golf application as the playing handicap, now a course handicap, is no longer correct. But that might not be the case for all courses and therefore just a bit of my personal problem ;-) Going to try more different courses soon, so we'll see.
The Garmin Golf application, Connect Mobile and Connect website could use some more feature/insights.
Ah, okay I didn't realise your location. As you are in Holland then the WHS should work correctly on your watch in that you just enter your handicap index and then should be able to select which tees you are playing off and the watch will do the rest.
That is the theory anyway; I just know that it doesn't work that way in the UK as we have adopted the WHS differently here. I believe the difference is due to the fact that in some parts of the world you can have people playing off different tees at the same time whereas in the UK a mens fourball would all be playing off the same tees.
Interesting to hear that the WHS is implemented differently in GB&I compared to other places.
I wonder what the point of the WHS is when implementations can differ between countries/locations?
The Handicap Index is the same around the world, there is just a slight difference in how the Playing Handicap index is calculated. The charts at the course will work out the playing handicap correctly so you and I could play together just by locally converting our handicap index.

This explains it quite well. I'm still not convinced that Garmin have changed the non-UK calculation either though as it looks like the index/slope calculation is different. It would be so much easier to input your playing handicap for that course on that day as you start a round. Do you trust the course database to be correct?
Have only just thought that competitions affect this as well. You can't adjust to score a 95% competition round if you wanted to.
Very interesting read from Dean Knuth, thank you for sharing.
That does make me understand why I was getting +16 strokes before, and now only seem to get +11. Ending in rather bad results for my WHS handicap when you score +13 and think you did well ;-) (based on the EGA system and Stableford points.)
I dropped from 15 to 12.4 and now play my home course off 13 but the advantage the other way is when I travel, it changes. When messaging @GarminChris I send him examples of how I can now be anything up to 16 even in the UK. I don't know if any other watch manufacturer has changed to support it either.
Until all the tees and pars and stroke indexes for each tee are updated, this expensive golf watch can't be used to score at my course, because it just has one mens tee and one women's tee. I sent all the info to Garmin in January and its still not been updated to the watch. This is so frustrating ! I could have just kept my cheap watch with distance to the green if I had been aware of this. Come on Garmin, give us what we have paid for (a watch that we can keep our score on!)
