Hole19 Golf GPS for Smartwatch Wear OS

Are there any plans to make the S62 or S60 compatible with the "Hole 19" app via WearOS

Subscribers to the hole 19 App are able to have an official recognised handicap, based on their course performance recorded in the app via a compatible smartphone / device.

Various social media reviewers are seeing this as a modern way to get an accepted handicap, without having to comply with golf club protocol (3 hand written scorecards). Its also eing seen as a more accurate handicap assessment because the use of wearables  and tracking apps is a continuous and more regular data source.

Hole 19 do charge a subscription for this service, however I am sure many Garmin users would take up the facility if it was an option.

  • Sorry to be the bearer of bad news:

    1) Hole19 does NOT provide a valid handicap. They just do the calculation for you, unofficially. Garmin does the same thing, but it is not valid per the rules of golf.

    2) Hole19 shot tracking via WearOS is a direct competitor to the Garmin products and infostructure. A crappy one, but its a competitor none-the-less.

    3) WearOS is an operating system, and Garmin does it not use it. They have their own operating system and ConnectIQ store. It will never be compatible with the Hole19 app unless they launch something in the ConnectIQ store. They won't as it'd be entirely redundant, but you're asking Garmin to change their operating system instead of Hole19 to develop a different app and that doesn't make any sense.

  • Thanks for clearing this up. James Robinson is making claims that arnt true, I will add a note to his you tube video.

  • I didn't watch the whole video, but he definitely deserves to be called out if he doesn't add a disclaimer somewhere in there. Being part of a golf club is a REQUIREMENT for a valid handicap. The apps that do provide a valid number (like TheGrint for example) take care of that for you by automatically assigning you to a complying club.

The number provided by Hole19, Garmin, Arrcos, etc is not valid and could not be used to participate in a handicap tournament.
