Make it easier to delete/edit shot lengths for each club.

Hi, I would like to see an improvement on how to manually remove misscalculated shots for each club. As of right now you have to manually check through each hole and scorecard and manually delete the shots (or add more shots) to get the correct length if the watch have missed to register a shot after the one you hit with the club.

My suggestion is to improve the "Gear" page, both on Garmin Connect and in the golf app so that you can expand each club and get all shots registered with that club, and from there manually delete shots that you know is miscalculated. So for example currently I have a 300+ yard shot with my 3 Iron which is impossible, but to remove that shot I'll have to manually check through each scorecard and hole to find that particular shot which is a big pain in the ass with the amount of rounds I have played, so If i just could find it directly under the "Gear" tab and remove it from there it would be so much easier.

An improvement ontop of this would be to add a link for each shot in the "Gear" section that would redirect you to the correct scorecard and hole for that particular shot.

  • Seriously, it's quite amazing that forum users should have to message a forum user in order to show "interest" for an update. And it appears that sw enhancements is depending on how many actually do this?

Of course every bloody user of the watches are interested in having this fixed. This is a problem for EVERYONE. Human respone is that as long as Garmin don't care, why should we waste our time suggesting something?

The standard response to every user request that would make the use much better is that the changes are being considered. For years. Without exception. And then when an update comes the change logs are fixes to issues no one knew existed in the first place.

This watch for me is basically to keep scores on the course, and tell me distance to the flag. Useless for anything else. Sad, but true.

And even more sad is the lack of feedback from Garmin if the software is going to improve, or when.

Latest "improvement" is green contours that suddenly appeared on my watch. Of course ruining the first holes as it takes forever to download. In order to use this I probably have to spend 5 mins extra on the greens, which is not exactly speeding up the game,  and I assume 99% of the users can't be bothered using it at all. But it's probably a great selling point for Garmin: we have added green contours!

Well, I may be the only one (which I doubt), who would rather have a lot of other fixes done before even thinking about green contours.

Such things would be data export, add shots from position of the previous shot, shot orders, ob issues, penalty area issues, shot registration around the green issues, shot registration on the green totally missing, this thread, and probably 50 other issues I can't remember now.

And You don't have to tell me for the next year that these are issues that is being considered.

I will use my S62 for as long as it works, and my next watch will not be a Garmin. Which really is a shame because it could be great.

  • Well said and spot on.

I suspect the mods here are a few times removed from the action and have very little sway. I see so many companies do that, where they isolate the real movers and shakers from the customer/users with no direct line of sight.

  • Yep, my feeling too.

If You think it's bad for the S62, read the forum on R10.

Yes, I purchased one of those as well, and the exact same thing happens.

An amazing piece of hardware, and the competitirs could pack their bag if Garmin only lisened to their customers and implemented the many good enhancements and fixes that are being suggested.

Same story: being evaluated, no exceptions, and nothing happens.

The biggest problem is actually neither the S62 nor the R10. Both are great products being ruined by the Garmin Golf app.

  • Sadly no shortage of ideas posted over the years and next to nothing being added to app, dashboard or watch.

I'm one of those that gave up and went with Shotscope. Sold my S62. Great watch but did little for me related to golf.

Will Garmin put in the dollars to bump up the watch software and app? I doubt they ever will.

Garmin Revenue last 12 months: $4.98 Billion

Golf GPS market share: 25%. Golf GPS Market Value: $500 Million approx. (best estimate based on free market data)

Garmin's Golf GPS market share in dollars: $125 million which is just 2.5% of their revenue. Golf watches could vanish and they would barely notice.

They don't charge for subscriptions to see any special data so why spend money improving it.

Basically zero incentive to do anything with software. Money spent on building new watches and advertising them.

  • Sad to see absolutely nothing has changed from Garmins side.

Edited for content. I am sorry our Golf engineering team has not made the software modifications requested.

  • I would see it the same way, then you described it.
I love the watch for tracking shots (at least most of the time). But I am missing a lot of important features to make it comfortable in the day to day usage on the course. The features are for shure not expensive to develop and are missing for a long time. Sad

  • 3 years on and still nothing. Shame the interest from app developers is failing

  • Anyone have a strong following on social media? Maybe they just need to be publicly shamed into action.

  • They simply are not interested in improving existing units. New Garmin units are constantly being designed and released and that is their business model. If they get a few disgruntled previous customers like us, they see this as just part of the plan, and completely uneconomic to resolve.

I am stilll very happy with my Approach 64, notwithstanding the faults/omissions mentioned here... If I get REALLY annoyed, I may get another unit in the future

  • Same software though so.... Skip the new unit and just switch systems away from garmin
