Given the S62 already has swing tracking built-in and shows missed fairways, etc. Do you even need the Approach ct10 trackers as well? I'm struggling to understand the value of the ct10 trackers now?

My understanding is that you are required to nominate the specific club you are using with the S62 swing tracking for each shot. This is ok if you intend to just use it for a limited time to get your yardage…
You really do still at least want a CT10 on your putter or it won't detect putts fully. I only have 3 CT10's and am considering updating to a full set so that it does full stat tracking without me…

My understanding is that you are required to nominate the specific club you are using with the S62 swing tracking for each shot. This is ok if you intend to just use it for a limited time to get your yardage. The CT10 system allows you to place and forget and to continuously monitor changes to your yardage over a period of time. I have done this recently going from a 12 hcp to a 6 over the last year and noticing that my yardage has changed. I would not have bothered if I had to keep nominating clubs each shot.
You really do still at least want a CT10 on your putter or it won't detect putts fully. I only have 3 CT10's and am considering updating to a full set so that it does full stat tracking without me having to enter the club I used after almost every shot. Virtual Caddie relies on this full stat tracking.
So while you don't need CT10's, you will have a better experience with them if you care about stat tracking and Virtual Caddie.
Got it, thanks for the helpful context.
Makes sense, thanks for the clarification.
Shots are detected by the Accelerometer in the the S62,
The S62 has to decide between a full swing and arc with an accelorated downsing and your normal arm swing movement while waling.
The S62 is Not able to detect a slow half swing pitch and a slower putt with little to no back swing.
That is what the more sensitive ct10's are for.
They turn on when vertical and are able to detect a softer hit and transmit it to your cell phone golf app and then to your synched up S62
CT10's are actually paired to the watch not the phone. There is no phone requirement for using CT10's with your S62. But yes, the CT10's are much better at detecting a wide range of swings than the watch accelerometers themselves.
Thanks for catching that.
Your right, I was thinking about my Arccos sensors, that comm with the phone.
