Shot tracking off course

I am hoping to purchase an S62.

If I go out with it to a random large field (not course), am I able to hit a ball, walk to it, and have the watch display the yardage I hit? Or do you have to be on a golf course?

I do this a lot as practice/recreation. Would be great to see how far I am hitting the ball.

Yes. You'll have start a golf round, but you should be able to choose any course even if you're not close by. I just started a round for a course 5 miles away. I swung the club and as I walk through…
