Average Club Distances

I agree that better club distance editing is required. In the absence of this, Garmin should at least put some logical limits (AI?) on distances that can be recorded. Drives of 500 yards and LW of 300 yards are clearly errors (often due to Garmin using the wrong hole location) and some logic should automatically clean these up. The suggested fix of manually searching for outliers is unpractical.

  • I understand the concern with average/max distances, and Garmin offers the option to edit your scorecard to correct the discrepancy if a shot continued recording during the round due to factors that cause the distance to continue recording.

We do not place limits on the distance due to how our devices are formatted to record. Everything on screen (confirming score, stat tracking info, and club prompt) during the round must be done hole for hole in order to keep the device recording shots accurately and consistently.

There are players who can hit 500 yards (obviously not a common thing) ...so we would not want to limit the distance.

More info outlining how to edit or correct scorecards available on the Garmin support page linked here: Editing AutoShot Information With the Garmin Golf App

  • Unfortunately,  I am unable to edit 18 holes times 100 rounds each year in order to correct the erroneous lengths that my 14 clubs seem to miraculously deliver.

Can someone just code the maximim distance on our statistics page, 1 edit for each of my 14 clubs instead of my now 25,200 edits that I have  accumulated.

I may have to hire some computer  tech person to do it for me.

  • My G8 had the ability to review past shots by club and not include certain shots in the average!  Dropping capability was the reason I returned my G80 after I broke the function button on my G8. P.S. The salesman told me the G80 did everything my G8 did, and more!!

I told myself I needed the S70 to get the functionality I wanted.  The price could have been lower if they would have asked the golfing public which non-golf functions were not needed on golf device.

Seems like Garmin should have a user group to review new golf devices design criteria a provide input on what is really need/not needed.  Not sure how much of Garmin’s R & D budget is allowed for golf devices vs profit compared to their total product line.  Goff line may not be very high on the list!
