To resolve the concern, connect your watch to a home computer using the cable to USB > Once connected, if you do not see the watch power on and begin charging normally, press and hold the middle button on the side of the watch for 20 seconds > Release the button > Then disconnect and reconnect the power cable > You should then see the watch power on and begin charging and operating normally.
If you continue having concerns, please inspect the charging contacts on the cable and the watch per the following descriptions:
Then check the four metal dots on the charging contact on the back of the watch. All four of the dots should be identical, shiny, rounded and all the same color. None of the dots should appear a different color, corroded, dented in or different from the others. Do they all look that way on the back of the watch? If not, then they may need to be cleaned using isopropyl alcohol. If cleaning does not resolve the issue, then you would need to contact Garmin Support to discuss further solutions.
hi mate...did you get an answer?..i found it was sweat from my wrist getting into the charger pins....i had to dry and clean them frequently....i now wear an elastoplast under it...seems to have solved it
Garmin does not recommend using the dust caps over the charging contacts as they are designed to be exposed. Cleaning them periodically is part of the device care as sweat or skin oils build up on them.
Using a dust plug may result in moisture becoming trapped underneath the plug resulting in corrosion damage to the contacts.
