Garmin s60 new edition with hazards?

I have a basic Garmin golf gps and am thinking of upgrading to the S60 however not having distances to hazards is a main problem and so I’m looking for products other than Garmin The S 62 has got way too much functionality that I don’t need and I don’t want to pay an extra £100 to £200 for a lot of extra functionality over s60 functionality that I’m not going to use. Are Garmin considering something like an an S52 that combines the S60 features with the hazards distances of the S42 and doesn’t include the heart monitor and a lot of other unnecessary functionality that I don’t need to play golf. I imagine that, like me, many people only use their golf watch for golf and have a different watch for every day use.

    The Approach S60 does have the ability to measure distance to hazards, although you have to use the touch targeting feature. But, if you are looking for a golf watch that doesn't have the heart rate sensor and other bells and whistles and has the traditional distance to hazards, the Approach S42 would be a great option.

    Hi Rob,

    Thank you for your reply. My current Garmin device has hazards on and the S 42 doesn’t provide that much more other than being in colour and a nice looking watch but like I said I only use it play golf and have a different watch for every day use. I can see that a lot of people have said on this forum that using the touchscreen for hazards on the s60 takes too long and is too fiddly. If Garmin aren’t thinking of adding hazard measurements to the s60 I’ll just keep on looking but it’s a shame as personally I think the s60 with that added feature would be the go to watch for a lot of golfers priced in between the s42 and s62

    What a pity. Touch targeting is difficult, especially if you need to wear your reading glasses. Touch targeting too time consuming, cannot be used when you are with a group and there is a group behind you.

    I agree! Without hazard measurements there is no reason to buy the S60. I have one and the touch targeting takes forever on such a small screen. Don't bother with this watch unless they upgrade the software to show hazard measurements.
