Garmin Approach S60 screen is blue and doesnt come back on

HI

i have an Approach S60.

Yesterday there was a notification on the screen "turn display off?" with the red cross X and the Green tick y.

i thought its some new power save feature so i clicked on the yes.

after that the display wont come back on. its blue background and no text/visuals. i turned on and turned off but no response. just blue blank background

its showing connected and alerts are causing it to vibrate. but beyond that there is no way to see any info.

if any one has any advice please share. its not detecting on Garmin Express even when connected.

thanks

gautam

  • Based on your description, I believe there was a hardware failure and your display failed. Researching, there are no circumstances I can find where an Approach S60 has prompted to Turn Display Off. There is also no setting within the watch for turning off the display itself - which if why I believe it was a hardware failure since you saw the message and your display has stopped functioning.

Please reach out to your region's Golf Product Support team. We will gladly assist further.

  • Hi Chris

thanks for your prompt reply and helpful advise.

i visited the Garmin Service centre. Very prompt and fast service. They couldn't diagnose the issue but offered to replace the watch for SGD 176. i didn't have a choice - the warranty was expired. So i agreed, paid and it was done on the spot.

to be honest, such a gross hardware issue, i feel should be covered even outside of warranty - especially if it is not a common occurance. but i accept the point that the warranty is expired and i have no recourse.

by the way, the yardage on my old defective watch was always off by 10-15 yards. i put it down to standard deviation error of GPS but it turns out the replaement watch doesnt have this error. so i guess i had a lemon these past two years despite software updates and everything.
