Tee Selection has no effect on yardage

Just got my S60 and have not played a round of golf with it. I live in a golf course community. From home, I skip searching for satellites, select my home course, select WHITE tees, and the yardage on the first hole to the middle of the green shows 49 yards longer than actual. All holes' yardage is longer than actual. Selecting BLACK tees has no effect on yardage shown. Am I doing something wrong? Or missing a setting? I updated the S60 with the latest software after I bought it.

YES and YES. Without a GPS signal the watch has no idea where you are standing on the course. Give it a try and see the difference

Thanks for the reply Horst. I have two golf apps on my cell phone. They both show correct Tee Box yardages for the selected tees from my house. Guess I was expecting the same from the watch. So, what effect does selecting the color tee box have on the S60?

The S60 does not have GPS on by default. You must start the round and wait for a good signal.

I assume your smartphone has location set "on". Then you are fine.

This is for handicap calculation (course handicap) when you use the Index/Slope method. That is for USA only. Does not work correctly in Europe.
