Inconsistent distance

I have had inconsistent yardage reading on my S60 watch. If it was off by certain percentage throughout the course, I could understand but it has been erratic. It read correctly on some holes but off on other holes. Also, range of wrong yardage was different every hole also. What can be done about this problem? Is this a common problem?

Funny moment;  One day I was playing golf with 3 friends with 4 Garmin GPS watch and noticed 4 different distances ranging from 0 to 57 yards on 495 yard hole!!

    What you are describing is not uncommon. I would also say it is not common but the better you understand how GPS works, it makes a lot more sense.

    1) The GPS satellites are 12 miles up and orbiting the planet

    2) The Earth is rotating 1,000 mph

    3) GPS satellites are intentionally degraded to ensure GPS products are not military weapon level accurate

    When you put all this together, GPS is a powerful tool that works very well most of the time but it is not perfect nor meant to be perfect. When everything comes together beautifully, you may see accuracy within 3-5 yards. It will swing back and forth and terrain can be a factor.
