Garmin newbie

I’ve just purchased an S60 as I’ve taken up golf in my retirement. All ok so far, but I’m slightly confused from a golf point of view trying to understand the relationship between the S60, Garmin Connect and the Garmin Golf App.

The S60 manual is next to useless in this regard.

DoI need the Golf App? As I understand it, the watch can/ will keep the score, and then I can upload to Garmin Connect for analysis. Not clear where the Golf app comes in?

Sorry for all the dull questions and grateful for any pointers on a dummies guide to how these all work together - or even if they need to,!

  • The S60 is the device that records your game either with the CT10's  or stand alone. It helps you play with course info and records shots etc.

Garmin connect is the app that interfaces with your watch and grabs the details of your game from the watch (and manages some of the watch user data). Simply though it talks to your watch and pulls the game datat (shots and locations etc)

You also need (I seem to do ) Garmin connect to enter your clubs ( names, type) in the Gear section

Once you have played your round and recorded it in the watch, Garmin connect will synch up .

You can the view your round in the Garmin Golf app or Garmin connect (online web version as I do). You will see graphics of each hole and the shots you made, distance you hit and score etc.

Initially though you just need your watch )set up properly of course)

I agree the manual dosn't show this relationship stuff and it can take a while to get your head around. However once you do you will enjoy seeing your scorecards in the golf app!

  • Thanks! Played my first round with the watch today. Generally went well. A few shots missed but getting the hang of it. Got Garmin Connect too and can see loads of stuff from the round. Sure I’ll refund it over the next few rounds. Thanks again!
