S60, unexpected restart and loose of activity data!

Hi,

I'm happy to reach my goal of steps every day: more than 10.000

Today, after 4.400 steps, my S60 did an unexpected restart with loose of all my recorded 4.400 steps!

Very disappointing is, that the S60 get not back the data from the connected GCM! GCM shows me the actual steps, but was then also reset to the 0 S60-steps.

Normally I expect, that the stored data in GCM are leading and should sync the S60 after a reboot!

Because there is no other way to receive my step-goal, I have to shake the S60 until the lost 4.400 steps will be added ...

And it is so crazy, only the steps are lost, all other settings and the watch-face are ok ...

P.S. the battery was 80%!

  • I am sorry your Approach S60 restarted itself and you lost your daily step total for the day. A possible culprit is an older file on your watch that is corrupt. A bad file can cause restarting and freezing.

For this type of behavior, traditional resets will often resolve it. You can Hard Reset it and as a last resort, Restore All Default Setttings.

I have also sent you a Private Message with additional steps.

  • Hi Chris,

thanks for your quick response, I will follow your instructions!

  • After getting instructions from Chris what to do (these instructions depend on your personal usage of your smartwatch, so they are not general) and a hard reset after that, my S60 runs at moment as good as before.

I was a little bit scared that I will loose all my settings, watch-face (with about 40 settings) and golf courses, but all was kept!

Thanks to Chris for his quick reaction!

  • Hi,

today I pick up my thread, because during playing golf (on hole 2 of 9) my S60 did a restart, but happily after finishing restart I got the message if I will continue the round and yes, sure! After ending the round I did not save it, because it was today too bad!

The second round (9 holes again) worked as good as usual, after saving I got the message, that I now can see the round in my app.

Later at home I tried to connect my S60 to the pc, but it does not work, so restart of the pc, restart of the S60 ... first check: connection to my iPhone ... nothing ... iPhone Bluetooth off and on ... and now connection to GCM and a longer update than usual ( ca. 1 min.).

After that cleaning the contacts on the S60 and the connection cable and trying to connect to the pc again ... and now it works! I did now the clean-up procedure I received here from Chris, hopefully it is now ok again ...

In GCM I could see, that the first two holes from the first round have not been recorded in the GSM map so I miss 1,5 km.

  • Mine did that yesterday on hole 15 of 18 hole round. Made it back to the resume round screen. But later when looking at the scorecard on Garmin Connect, Only holes 16 thru 18 saved the images and strokes of the round. 1 thru 15 are not selectable.
