Enhanced Statistics

Hello Garmin,

Are there plans to enhance the statistics package for Garmin Golf? By that I mean why can't we have access to custom date ranges or sliders for stats such as last 20 rounds (matches the USGA index range) or last month (what if lessons are working and ball striking has improved recently)? Why can't you add a landscape oriented version of the app for Apple's iPad (I assume it can't be hard to adapt your iOS app to the iPad)?

I only ask as the main reason I use my  S60 is it's paired with my  CT10 sensors. I'm a rank amateur and have zero aspirations on taking my game to the proverbial next level but I am a data junkie and I just like tracking my game. I think the nicest looking watch/sensor/stats package is Shot Scope but my stars their watch is huge and horrible looking. Their watch aside the data presentation is second to none in my humble opinion.

What's the future for data analytics with Garmin Golf? Garmin is a brand I very much enjoy but I need to see further advances in the data anayltics/presentation side if I'm going to continue using your products for golf in the future. If there isn't improvement I'll probably use another product like Shot Scope, Arccos or Game Golf in the future. Don't make me do that..lol. Please tell me improvements are on the way and to be delivered soon.

  • Shotscope V3 is coming.

My S60 is for sale on Ebay....

  • My hope is to stay in the Garmin family but that’s good to know if improvements aren’t coming.

  • My hope is also to stay with Garmin.

However, you know how it is in a capitalist system and market economy: Competition is stimulating progress and innovation. An eventually the more agile and customer focused company makes the deal.

The whole golf-thing does not seem to be Garmins cup of tea. I do not need a fancy smart watch fitness tracker - I need a golf watch that is working and that offers detailed and flexible statistics. Period.

The statistics of Garmin golf app are ridiculous and inflexible. A wind calculation / compensation is certainly not preferred to a working "distance to hazard " function without frickling on the tiny screen or a Stableford handicap calculation that works in Europe.

Garmin simply does not seem to be able to think like golfers and cater their needs.

I was an early adopter of the S60 back in 2017. Garmin improved the S60 but stalled since end of 2018.

Shot scope seems to be really caring for golfers and be focusing on iur sport. I will give Shot Scope V3 a try - I mean, it comes at a price tag of 2 or 3 greenfees.

One last remark on Garmin: They put Golf under "Outdoor Recreation". I guess, this tells it all.

  • We greatly appreciate your suggestions. I would like to forward them to our Golf APP engineers. I have sent you a Private Message to gather more information.

  • Thanks Chris, I responded to your PM.

  • I never heard about shotscope but had a look just then. stats look impressive! at a glance better than garmin and sounds like you get the sensors included. price is really good. at the moment I suspect my second replacement S60 will malfunction again within 1 year so good to know another option as I cant see use it going wit a 3rd replacement

  • and I would also add a question as to why is garmin introducing features that do not conform to the rules of golf. oh also I thought s60 has "distance to hazard". you stand on the spot of the hazard and press store and it stores that spot so next time you can call up the distances to... function and you will see the distance to that spot you mapped. I've mapped all my usual hazards that I need to be aware of when playing on my course. Can't do it for every course though. rangefinder better for that anyway which I use for all pin and hazards mostly anyway

  • The Garmin watch is so much nicer, that Shotscope watch is a tank and appears to be for golf only. I do like wearing my S60 to track my daily activity too which is a big plus for me. It also looks nice as a watch itself.

  • What features don’t conform with the rules of golf? The slope function? That only doesn’t comply for tournaments much like that feature on a laser range finder can’t be used either.

  • I see they are introducing things like "plays like" which uses elevation data that is not allowed, wind speed also banned and device that shows direction of line of play is also banned and finally a device which computes these factors and recommends what club to play is also banned. So I think thats pretty well all the new features that garmin have introduced are illegal. See rule 4.3a. THese all apply to rounds which you are playing for which an official card will be entered for handicapping and club events and rounds etc which is basically everytime you play
