S62 and Samsung S10 5G

HI all - does anyone have the Samsung S10 5G and connect the S62 to it?  I cannot get the smart notifications to all work, got the watch 3 days ago - I managed to get it to ring but nothing else - then i managed to get the emails/SMS/calendar/whatsapp to work but no ringing.  I haven't even managed to try it on the course yet.  Support have tried to help yet cannot fix it.

I am no way an IT expert but have spent 48 hours trying to get it to work. I have uninstalled the Connect App several times, rest the watch, spent hours looking for anything online but still doesn't work.

I wanted this watch for the HR and Fitbit like features and for the golf applications.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Chris.  Update.  I got the new replacement S62 this morning and set it up as instructed.  I am having the same problem.  All permissions are on but I'm only get smart notifications for text, whatsapp, calendar and email.  I am not getting a notification when my phone rings. I have spoken with my mobile phone provider and they cannot give me any assistance,  we went over what needs to be on and it all is.

Have Garmin had other Samsung S10 5G user contact you?

Its £479.99 GBP So a lot of money for something that isnt working properly.

It has to be something in the software on the S62 as I couldn't get this (smart notification on the watch when the phone rings) on a friends iPhone.

    Please advise.  Thanks

    • Sorry another update.  If I turn the permission off on my phone for the telephone aspect the watch vibrates and says it needs permission on if I want to receive notifications on the watch. I turn it back on and the watch vibrates to say it is connected but the watch still wont vibrate a notification if my phone rings

Yet another update.  I have tried so many different things and now it seems to work. Absolutely no idea what change I made that got it to work.  I will monitor it over the next week to see if it holds.

  • I am glad to hear your smart notifications are functioning properly. Other than the Notifications and Alerts settings in your Approach S62 watch, the notification and privacy settings on each smartphone will vary. Once you get your phone settings dialed in, you should be good to go.

  • Hello, any idea what was the problem? I have the same situation with my Pixel 4 phone. Everything works great but no phone ringig. I tried so many thing but still no idea.

    Thanks a lot.

Hey. Sadly I don't know the answer.  I had to replace the unit and then it did start working.  Try if not tried already making sure the phone and watch and app settings all allow notifications.  Lots to look at.  Sorry I can't be better help.

  • Most of the time, it is not an Approach Golf watch issue but the settings on an Android or iPhone. The watch is passive and does not request the smart notifications from your smartphone.
