How do I change average and maximum distance of my golf clubs

Hello
The stored (calculated) values of the average and maximum distance of my golf clubs is incorrect.

is there any way to change this?

  • It is really frustrating that Garmin doesn't take this seriously.       The product manager must not play golf or use the products they create for golf.    Perhaps wear one on their wrist and that is it.

What is needed is a way to easily throw out exceptionally low distances and exceptionally high distances for every club.    My putter sows I hit it 519 yards, sand wedge 521 yards, 9 iron 540 yards, etc...

Garmin not caring or prioritizing something this simple to fix gives me just one option... Vote with my wallet and buy something else.

  • I agree Phil I deleted all data and started again but that can all be undone by forgetting to enter club during a future. Garmin clearly dont care Bout this problem and i am not that impressed with my s62.

  • I reached out to you via direct message to get your feedback submitted through your account. We are still reviewing users wanting more options to correct distances.

Reply through to my DM if you would like your feedback submitted through the proper channel on our end.

  • Out of curiosity, with the new S70 no being released is this a feature that is available on there in some shape?  Maybe gives you an option to ignore certain shots when playing if they have been duffed or not a full shot.  Like it’s been mentioned above it records the distance as if it was a full shot but doesn’t give any option to record the shot type, such as a pitch shot, flop shot etc where you won’t be going the full distance. Be interesting if there is something that we are asking for on the S70 and whether it’s a way to try and push their new products

  • Garmin uses a proprietary equation to achieve club averages. We utilize a percentile system which allows us to more closely estimate the average distance for different clubs in your bag. Our equation does automatically remove erroneous shot data with certain clubs such as half shots and misreads from the watch or sensors (mishits, duffed or chunked shots, thin or bladed shots, etc.)

This is not exclusive to the Approach S70. Users taking (for example) a rescue shot, punching out to the fairway, using a longer distance club type...you can exclude the club by exiting the club prompt selection window that appears after the shot is detected. So if you tap the Back button on the lower right side, you can opt out of assigning the club. Users can also edit the shot if using CT-10 sensors, after the round when the scorecard is synced over to the Golf app.

Typically the outlier distances affecting max distance displayed for clubs is a result of the watch continuing to measure a shot because a prompt was not confirmed resulting in the hole not transitioning resulting in a longer distance being measured.

Please direct message me if you have questions/concerns, so I can get some additional info for your specific concern related to the max/average distances.

  • I think what we, as users, are looking for is a simple update to the App that allows the user to manual delete these rouge shots and data.  Currently the answer has been you need to do this either on the course immediately after realizing the data is rogue (unlikely to happen), or by editing the round after you have finished.  The latter is unlikely also, as requires you to go into the app and do the deleting / updating whilst it's still fresh in your mind.

What I would like, is a way of being able to see all my shot data, under an "edit data" option for each club, then to be able to mark a shot as either erroneous (so that it is not counted in my club data), or be able to delete it if it is so incorrect.

Having this function should be really easy to add, as all the data is there, and would then bring your app in line with other apps that already provide this function.  I would further suggest that it is an easy bit of coding that could be done rather easily and quickly, so i would ask has this been put to the update team yet, or is this still being debated.

  • Please add me to the list. Manual editing of the distances is what I need and want

  • unfortunately I tried using the solution above but when I removed the shot it was the only one on the hole and now I can't replace it with another shot.   Look at the TopTracer Range app.   You can see every shot recorded for a club and remove outliers.   It makes no sense not to be able to remove 300 yard shots with a 9 iron.

  • Same for me. Would really appreciate some action on this as well, without it suggesting a club is completely useless.
