How do I change average and maximum distance of my golf clubs

The stored (calculated) values of the average and maximum distance of my golf clubs is incorrect.

is there any way to change this?

  • Posts are seen and responded to but nothing ever happens. the overall logic and ability to manually delete ‘ adjust bad data in the garmin golf watches is bad. If you are a avid golfer it will take you 2-3 rounds before you start seeing all the obvious issues with the features /  logic of the software. For example, club averages showing 200  yard putt or a 400 yard PW in the data set. And inability to locate the extreme data the is causing this number tells me no one actually field tested it from the beginning or Maybe the original code is so bad it’s near impossible to change and make improvements but I get the impression garmin really isn’t interested in making the golf software products the best in class, which is ok I just wish I knew this before I bought 2 golf watches. But I’ve pretty much given up expecting any improvements or changes in their golf software. The work arounds and suggested fixes being offered from garmin are embarrassing.

  • I wanted to voice my support for this to be prioritised as a feature/QoL improvement by Garmin. A big part of the reason I chose my S62 was because of the Virtual Caddie feature to suggest clubs on a shot-by-shot basis. That functionality is now basically useless as my data quality is terrible after 32 rounds of Golf, as it suggests clearly incorrect clubs for every shot.

  • I agree Jim. I would not recommend to others and would have not have bought this watch had I known that there was no way to amend the dodgy data.

  • As a new user of an Approach S62 last Summer, I too am experiencing faulty recording of max distance for clubs and am shocked to see that there is no feature to correct this without painstakingly going through every hole for every round I’ve played. Shame on you Garmin. If your device sometimes records incorrect data, there should be a quick way to correct it. 

  • Having read through this forum topic it is clear to me that nothing meaningful has been done by Garmin.

    Bottom line is that most "customers' will not be inclined to do anything about it and this forum does not, IMHO have much reach/push in terms of all the Garmin Golf app users out there.

    I am sure they know this too and are using it to their advantage. 

    Potential customers will remain unaware of these simple fixable issues that would correct and enhance the user experience and so will continue to purchase what they believe are great products so it won't impact Garmin's bottom line that much (if at all)!

    The irony here is the products themselves are good but that is just not enough...To be great Garmin needs to listen and react positively to its customers and my experience so far just shows that they suck at it! 

    Perhaps a better approach would be share this lack of customer support and failings with the popular golf bloggers of the world (I'm thinking the Rick Sheils etc. of the golfing world) and maybe, just maybe if just one or some of them actually put out a blog on it, the exposure showing how little Garmin have done or appears to care about addressing and improving their products would actually prompt them to do something about it?

    As for now,  the S62 and CT-10'a I purchased last year will be the last things I ever buy from Garmin.   

  • They don’t care at all. They’re too singularly focussed on their caddy feature, which no one looks at from my experience talking to golfers on course using garmins. The new watchOS with apple coming soon is all I needed to jump ship and use one of the 100 other apps that provide this basic and very useful feature. 

    The most frustrating thing is it’s THE most basic feature every golfer needs, so everyone just buys the watches assuming it’ll do it then end up here frustrated when they realise it can’t, but moneys been spent. 

    I even offered to write the code for free for them.

  • Garmin's solution is to delete all the scorecards which may have wrong data. That is crap!

    I found the main issue is when you play matchplay and pick up your ball or even worse, if you play greensome and alternate shots with your partner. Then all your Max lengths go to ***.

    Garmin should use a different algorithm that throws out shots that deviate too much from the avg. Also if you hit a super far drive down a mountain. It may be your Max length but it's meaningless.

    You want to know your avg and most common Max.

    also use my iron 7 around the green a lot for low shots of 15-40 meters/yards. Those shots should be eliminated from the average reading which is around 150m

  • Garmin is not suggesting that you delete all of the scorecards.

    Users would need to review shot data in scorecards to find the hole where the incorrect shot was recorded, that is causing an outlier to your average, or max distance for clubs you are concerned with. 

    Then deleting the shot, or editing the shot to correctly reflect the distance will correct the outlier distance contributing to the max or average values.
