How do I change average and maximum distance of my golf clubs

Hello
The stored (calculated) values of the average and maximum distance of my golf clubs is incorrect.

is there any way to change this?

  • I think the solution is just to have all the data sets visible under each club with the ability to either exclude or delete each individual data point (or even edit them - however I don’t want to make this too difficult for Garmin……). The issue is that Garmin want you to spend $400 on club sensors which are then useless if you have a few skewed shots and it messes up your data. Garmin would have spend thousands if not hundreds of thousands developing the club sensors and app so why not improve it? It makes no sense…

  • Average-Poor golfer chiming in here.

I’ve been playing years, I’m not great. I’m handicap 18 and due to various injuries I take a fair bit of time off when things flare up. I’m not consistent enough to get single figures but love the game.

Thing is I know I should hit my 6 iron 155m, but more often than not I don’t. When I’m 160m out that’s the club I should go for.

However i honestly do the perfect shot every 2-3 times, others aren’t terrible but maybe just not flush and go 130-140.

This doesn’t mean I should pull out a fairway wood when I’m that far out because VC tells me to, I should use the club I think if I hit a clean shot I’ll get there. Or do I just assume I’ll chunk it and listen to VC?

If I can just set a manual distance it helps me and others greatly.

I know it’s 160 out, I know based on my averages im less but I should strive to hit it clean based on what I know my true distances are.

We’re not all pro golfers that want the stats, we just want an easy experience that so many other apps have acknowledged and implemented.

Can you just confirm at least that you’re taking this feature request to whichever panel exists for discussion.

Also thank you for being responsive.

  • When I commented on this I saw after that it was three years old and thought no chance it’s going to be seen.

At least they moderate these forums which is promising, maybe they’ve made improvements to moderation.

I love garmin products, I’ve just not had a watch for a few years and sort of just assumed the app would now have the feature that every other app has these days.

Spent $1699 on a Helix 2 and it doesn’t do what I want Sweat smile

  • Just a reminder, I messaged you directly requesting more info to add your account to feature request our team is looking at for future update consideration.

  • Completely understandable, and glad we were able to get your account submitted, and thanks for being active in the forums!

  • I tried to clean-up my golf rounds from incorrect records but I gave-up this sisyphean work since even with a lot of time spent to find the wrong data I was not able to find and fix it. The app should tell you e.g. on which day, course or whole the longest shot was done. That would help to trace back and correct or delete the shot.

  • Sent you a direct message to get some addition info from you to get you added for improvements.

I would also like to take a further look as well from our end to view your specific shot concerns after verifying your info in private chat.

    Thank you!

  • I along with most other garmin golf watches are extreamly unhappy with the errant distances our watches record most every round. I’ve had putters that it’s recorded 200 yds and drivers that hit it 15 yards. All over the place. Going back and deleting a club and reinstalling it is a pain and going thru score cards to correct the issue. I pais $1600 for my first watch and new little about about them at the time. Thinking the issue was with the watch, I sold it and purchased a $500 watch that was less complicated and was de signed to work with golfers more so. Wrong, it does the same thing. We need the ability to change the averages. How hard could this be. The flustration of these issues only makes the golf game more complicated and the head, so to speak. I’m also pretty sure I won’t be buying another Garmin product because from my end, you guys could care less that the consumers being happy are not.

  • Yeah, it can take some time in searching through scorecards, and then each hole on the scorecard to see where the distance outlier was recorded to get it removed.

    • Make sure to confirm any prompts needing to be entered prior to teeing off on the next hole. If the score, or stat tracking screens are not confirmed prior to teeing off on the next hole after putting, distance can continue to track after teeing off, and it will give incorrect distances.
    • Same goes for the club prompt feature, if sensors are not being used. If you take a full swing shot, and the club used is not selected prior to hitting your next shot, the distance will continue recording.
    • When leaving the 18th hole, make sure to end the round on the watch prior to leaving the green and the course.

I have also direct messaged you for more info to submit to our team looking further into improvements in correcting distances.

  • Has this rectified. Seems like a very obvious flaw in the golf app
