S60 long time of looking for satelites

I am observing during last week's much longer time needed to find satelites. In the past it was 1 minute now it last much longer.
Can someone confirm my observation?
  • yeah i noticed it also. it's always been a bit slow but the last couple rounds do seem much longer. i played on saturday and it seemed to take a good couple minutes. and it was bright and sunny day in southern california without a cloud in the sky. i know some days when it is cloudy and overcast it can be more difficult to get a satellite signal like WAZE gps or satellite radio in my car if i am under a bridge and it's super cloudy.

i usually try to launch the golf app once i park and then once it displays the course list i will back out and then wait till i am at the first tee to select the course.
  • The best way to make sure everything is working correctly is to plug your device into a computer and update the device with Garmin Express.

  • played a couple round this weekend and it was much faster picking up satellites. took less than 10 seconds each time!
  • One week ago starting time was 3-5 minutes. Last weekend 1-2 minutes.
  • played a couple more rounds this weekend and it was really quick again. probably less than 10 seconds each time
  • Yes yesterday it was quick less then 1 minute.
  • One remark from from last round of golf. Time of searching was quick, but GPS position of my shot from 1st Tee box was shifted - not correct.
On attached screenshot it looks as if I made my drive from different place. S60 was started just before start of the game next to 1 tee box.
Next holes where correct, so I hope that it was just single error of reading GPS at the beginning of my round.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1406779.jpg
  • ive had this happen to me before. it happens when you pick the course before you are done on the range or on the putting green.

i bet the location it marked is where the putting green or the range is.

thats why when i am in the parking lot of the course, i start my s60 searching for satellites. once i see my course listed then i just back out. go do all my practice shots and when i am done practicing and headed to the 1st tee i will select my course.

most likely it captured a practice shot or even swing w/o ball. i have had it think i hit a ball by taking a swing that hit the ground during practice swings. doesnt happen often but has happened before.
  • In my case I started my S60 when I was of the left side of the tee box 1. My first drive was recorded from the right side of tee box 1 where I have not been in that day while it is area of green of the hole 9 on that course.
I know that practice swings might be recorded, but it was not in that case.
  • I recently upgraded from my S42 to th S60. The watch connects after around three holes and today I'm on my sixth and it hasn't conneced. How can I get it replaced. I feel I made a very wrong choice
