Golf performance- handicup, shot overview

[h=3]at the top of Golf performance card I can see

Last 10 Rounds
Handicap: 21.9[/h] Handicap Trend: Lower

My Handicap is 26.1 so the question is how it is calculated ?

In shot overview section there is comparison of my average -0.24 to similar handicap average - 0.33
How to understand these numbers ?
  • Handicap is expressed as a factor now days. You use it as a part of an equation to find your Course handicap. You will need to find the course rating and slope of the golf property you played on. Subtract the course rating from your score and multiple by 113. Divide the product by the slope listed on your scorecard (115 in the example) to obtain your handicap differential for that golf course..
As for your factor it comes from another calculation based on a number of rounds. How many depends on the number of rounds recorded. You take the handicap from X number of your best rounds and multiply by .96.
Possible reasons for differences are that the slope for your course or courses you have played may have been updated from the numbers Garmin has. Golf courses participating in the rating program are re-rated every few years,

As for the last numbers, can you post a screenshot? I can't find a reference to figure out what the number means.
  • Dunno how Garmin calculates the handicap, but looks like a kind of voodoo number to me! The system calculates exactly the same handicap for me and my wife (36,4). However, my official HCP is 46, hers 49. Maybe Garmin could kindly elaborate, how they calculate the handicap. From my point of view, it would be much better, if you'd just type in your official handicap that is calculated on the basis of official tournament scores or extra day scores. Everything else appears to be artificial nonsense to me.
