shots not detected by the watch. Please, GARMIN, update software urgently

Hello,

A lot of my shots are not detected by the watch, specially when using wedges around the green or when I lose the farway and I need to hit the ball soflty to come back.

It is very annoying that this happen in a watch that cost more than 400 euros but in my opinion is unforgivable that the watch does not include an option to register manually all this shots that are missed.

Is very easy to fix this tremendous mistake just updating the software an including the option.

I hope that someone of Garmin Team read my post.

Thanks

All - count your blessings - I have a Fenix 5x at £600 which has now completely stopped recording shots. However what I have in common with S60 users is that Garmin are also ignoring my comments and all the the other Fenix users! Shocking example of customer service or the lack of it....

I am also using CT10 and on a recent round the scorecard read no GIR and no puts - wrong on both counts ?!?!

  • The recognition is ok for me and I have 7.1 os version on my watch and  the watch of my wife also.

But be careful if you are left handed or right handed. Because the position of the watch on the good arm must change.

If you are right handed the watch must be on your left arm.

I am left handed and I have putted the wattch on my right arm. The detection is ok.

I have installed ct10 captors on PW and SW to be sure of the detection. If your shoot is too slow the watch don't detect it but the ct10 captor yes.

So I'm very happy of this watch.

The gps track is not efficient on compact golf because the holes are too close. It is dependant of the GPS accuracy !

  • Mine has stopped altogether. Tried everything. Cant believe is watch (?) ....software issue surely

I have had a long conversation - it’s been logged  as a fault on fenix 5 and a solution is expected soon.....! Surprisingly they told me that this problem had not been raised too many times, so lots of noise but not recorded on their systems? As a temporary solution they sold me a reconditioned s6 for $100. I’ll update when they tell me they have issued a fix for shot tracking

  • I've had this issue on my old Fenix 5+ and now my new Fenix 6. Only headed to this thread to find out if others are suffering the same issue. My open ticket with my 5+ was never solved and I temporarily bought a FR945. The shot tracking was almost flawless. However, I have now moved back to the Fenix with the 6 Pro and the same issues remain. Most if not all tee shots are never ever detected. Some fairways are and putting is OK.

It seems the firmware for Fenix and the Approach does not work. Garmin should compare with what they have in the FR945 as that was MUCH better!

  • Looking at scorecards, was working on 7th september, stopped on the 8th!

They refuse to implement the easy reliable manual measurement. Same on mi fenix 5 plus. It seems somebody in Garmin loves auto shot.

And yes they ignore customers report, and every time i called they told me "nobody ever reported this issue..."
