Make sure your Approach has software and updates installed from Garmin Express.
Then sync your watch through the Garmin Golf app on mobile phone. This will ensure the satellite data is updated to the watch.
Check the About section in System settings on the S42, then scroll towards the bottom of the About menu info to ensure "Current EPO Info CPE" is showing "Current" and not "Expired".

It seems that several people have issues connecting to the GPS. The CPE is simply not updating properly… even if I connect to the pc and sync the watch nothing happens.
The CPE is updated when the watch syncs with the Garmin Golf app. Once a recent sync has been confirmed, the user should allow the Garmin Golf app to run in the background so it will load that info.
