The Approach S12 does not have a backlit screen, and uses a sunlight-visible tranflective display that is designed to be highly visible outdoors during the daytime. This is due to the watch only having the option to use the features for golfing outdoors, and does not support any other features outside of golf, other than the time, date, sunrise/sunset , and battery level when not using the watch for golf.
To view the display screen on the watch, angle so a light source is shining on the screen for best visibility when using indoors.
