Sidespin Question

I don't know the answer to your question, but a general observation - the numbers in the bottom left of each square are nearly identical for both swings. I'm not sure what they represent, but perhaps that's why you didn't see much of a difference in the ball trajectory. Hopefully Garmin answers this for you. 

These are misreads. To me the R50 camera is picking up something on the ball that should not be happening. Are you using just a clean white ball?

I think someone else mentioned that with higher ball speeds it’s good to face the label on the ball towards the camera. I think other camera based LM’s have shown misreads like yours as well with driver. Certain driver heads and lighting can cause issues with higher swing speeds and ball speeds.

The R50 does not calculate sidespin. It actually reads the dimples on the ball so it could be seeing something that really isn’t there. Make sure the R50 screen is clean too.

the second shot shape may be correct in case you had on off center hit. (more on the toe) Then the gear effect kicks in. Also your club path and face to path angles are rather small on the second shot. The accuracy of the r50 will be not smaller then 0.5 degree I guess, so in reality they could be slightly in to out and closed.

I think what you're pointing out are averages across all my shots with that club in the session.

Good info, thanks for sharing. Using a Titleist RCT. Sometimes I hit them until they're pretty faded and dull but this one was new. I'll try out facing the logo at the camera and make sure lighting/screen are good and see what happens. My gut was that these were misreads, but I didn't know why or where to start. 

Thanks - yeah that all makes sense to possibly explain the shape. The spin just seemed too extreme.

Hopefully this doesn’t happen a lot. Wouldn’t be good during a round with water left!

if you were fighting left ball issues the club data screen shots say the ball is staying in the fairway.

This is why we need face impact location so we can be sure where on the club it was hit. If you can see an image showing a toe strike you stop questioning the side spin.
