Inaccurate Ball Flights

I have noticed several time where the ball flight does not match the data that is shown in the system. For example see the image:   The characteristics of a in to out path and a closed face to path means this should be a push draw, basically starting out to the right and move left. This typically happens with the driver/3 wood. Thanks for looking into this

  • This issue is being investigated internally. Please follow this thread for future updates.
    Thank you.

  • I have a theory that the club data and the resulting displayed ball flight data are calculated at 2 different points. Watching the slowmo and understanding no club data can be captured without the sticker, its easy to assume the captures of Club is done before the Strike while the Sticker is visible. Once the camera can no longer see the sticker after impact, that is when the ball data is captured as the ball leaves the club face and begins its path and rotation. This makes sense because without the aforementioned sticker, you can still hit shots and ball data is still present, but the metrics of the Club are absent. All that is to say, since we're talking about <5 degrees of accuracy, its my thought that between the Club Data capture point and the Ball data Capture point, the Club moved into a position to create the shots we're all seeing. ie. Ball is right, Club Data is "so/so". Also at this point, I believe it is beyond the hardware's capability to give accurate Club data at the time of impact given its current configuration.

I have an external highspeed camera ordered which im going to use as a top down view to confirm club path and test my theory. I'll update once I have any news

  • All launch monitors have mis-reads with club data and ball data. If it happened more than a couple of times in a row I would be worried. I can literally hit hundreds of balls over days and not get one mis-read with the R50. Then all of a sudden it happens and it’s usually driver or 3 wood.

If I change to a green ball it can happen more often. I try not to use colored balls.

i have been testing the GC3 and it also has an issue once in a while. Both R50 and GC3 are super accurate and if you don’t clean crap off your club face every so often you will get some wild numbers. Keep the ball and club clean and everything works way better!

  • After further investigating with our golf experts and looking at the photos you provided, if you're concerned with the shot shape presented, GSPro's software is taking the data provided and then interpreting the data to provide that shot shape.

If you're concerned with the accuracy of your metrics, you can provide our support team a CSV file comparing a driving range session in GSPro, and our native driving range app, and we can investigate that for you; however if the metrics are correct, and the shot shape is correct in our native driving range, we would have to ask you to reach out to GSPro, as it's their ball flight simulation that are yielding the shot shape.

  • Here is another example of a misread. This continue to happen at high club speeds

  • Even with that club face and angles, that can happen with an off center toe strike. Consider using baby powder to try to replicate it and perhaps take a video. Good luck.
