Feature Request R50 HTH Club Selection

Notice while playing Home Tee Hero there is no way to select which clubs your are hitting before taking the shot.

Can this feature be added to increase the accuracy of the shot during course play. Would be great to choose to use a specific club right before your shot is made. This will really help and mitigate the need to look at other third party firmware which offers this feature.

Thank you

  • Just asking: Why would that be needed in HTH? No stats are kept for HTH so there is zero reason to pick a club before starting. What would be the point?

  • To get more accurate measurement. Other sim software will ask to choose clubs before the hit. Right now it can only guess which club you are using. So your hits can be off when playing.

  • No, R50 (and all camera based monitors) do not care which club you select. It reads the ball speed, clubspeed, angles, spin, ... correctly for all clubs without knowing which club you use.

In fact, I also think this is the case for radar based monitors ... well .. I am 100% for sure it is true for all launch monitors.

If the software can select a club, it is just for statics etc.. (which HTH does not do).

  • Don't think that's true. Tried a few indoor simulators using different launch monitors, buddyplus, uneekor to name some and whenever a driver was selected during range hitting, the distance always goes further even when hitting with a 7 iron. Once I selected the right club before hitting the distance made more sense. I hit an average 150 metres with a 7 iron. When I forgot to change the club and left it as a driver it showed I was hitting a 195 metre hit with a 7 iron.

  • It would give feedback in the round with stats on how I am hitting my clubs, longest drive and by club. It would be helpful. Imagine if it used the garmin club tags..  just like in the course.

  • That is what I was expecting when I invested in all of the Garmin products: that they would all work together.  Nope.  Whey can't I play a round on the R50 HTH just like I do on the course?  Wear my S70, pick my club via CT1 (on watch or even on the R50), and it will keep track of my stats just like my S70 does on the real course?  The products are there, and the technology is there: it is just a matter of adding that logic.  Then, when I head to the course, the S70 Virtual Caddie would make educated recommendations for my game.  I don't think that was unreasonable to expect when spending towards $6k on all Garmin.  A flew flips of some 1's and 0's and it will be done.
