Updates

Could we please get some real feedback on updates.  The last 2 have been de minimus and all for the suggestions on this forum seemingly ignored.  Is there actually a plan?  Are ongoing updates being worked on?  What is the release cycle?  Can we see some forward looking commentary?  Many of us purchased the R50 specifically because it’s all in the box - but if there is no update cycle of any significance we are left wondering if we should have bought a cheaper monitor hooked up to a pc and 3rd party software that has a sensible update program.  Thanks

  • Second this. The messages of, I’ve forwarded this to our team are just an easy response. When nothing ever gets updated gives doubt that garmin even really cares about the success of the golf sector and just wanted in the game. Please give us an idea of what we might expect in the near future. Also feel like I wasted money when I could have went cheaper and had a far better experience with golf simulator tech. It’s not a bad product just needs the user feedback to be listened to or this system will fail

  • +1

There are a lot of reported issues and feature request we desperately need/expect to happen in the near future.

But Garmins users support is below margin and they are sadly very well know for this. They are more into sales of the product presented. Updating is not their best achievement.

Anyhow, still hoping for a v5 update that includes all known bug fixes AND feature requests. Fingers crossed.

  • Although Garmin has created a really great device with significant potential, it is really a bit disappointing, how Garmin treats the user base of a 5000 Euro device.

For many of us, the R50 was not a cheap investment and therefore I think it is more than understandable that we would highly welcome a roadmap for say the coming year.

Meanwhile, I am doubting the decision and questioning if I would not have been better of with a different device.

The most needed improvements in my opinion are a better practice range, most importantly flags at a configurable distance and better animations for the range - a good example here is Foresight.

Dear Garmin Team, please don't let us down and make something out of your great hardware - the software can make it a true asset!

Exactly. A simple editor to set a green, flag and bunkers would be incredible easy to implement. Even a below average coder can do this now (with Claude it should be coded in less than 1 hour). I am a coder myself for almost 30 years and if I could get my hands on the API, I would gladly code this for them.
