Is distance still an issue? All of my shots are reading significantly short on Garmin. Would using GSPRO fix this issue, or is it hardware?

Just got the unit, software updated. Tried different lighting, distance from screen, etc. New golf balls. All shots are reading significantly short. Have changed elevation. I have read where others are using different software. Would connecting to GSPRO fix this issue? I am getting very frustrated.
