PC app to use HTH/Practice on PC via WiFi

Just got my R50 and really enjoying it.  However, I'd like to put in a feature request for Garmin Connect or some other app on the PC to allow us to utilize HTH from the PC.  As it stands, if I want to change from GSPro to HTH or Practice, I have to disconnect the HDMI from my projector and run it over to the R50, creating a tripping hazard.  While the direct HDMI connection is great for many situations and applauded, most users are going to be using a lot of GSPro and having to completely change their setup to utilize HTH to play a course not available on GSPro is inconvenient.  I do realize utilizing practice on this method would not be nearly as big a usage as most users will just use the GSPro range, but if you're going to support HTH, it wouldn't make much sense not to support the other modes as well.

I appreciate there's additional complexity in creating and supporting a PC app, but given the mid-to-high-end market of the R50, I think it safe to assume the vast majority of your users will be using a projector with a PC and would much prefer to be able to seamlessly switch back and forth between GSPro and HTH.

Thanks for the consideration, looking forward to lots of great software releases to come!

  • Can you plug in both the cpu and r50 to the projector? Most projectors offer 2 hdmi slots, worst case a hdmi switch. Then just change the input on the project or switch.

  • You can, but routing an HDMI cable from your projector in the ceiling to a launch monitor in the middle of the floor is challenging.  Not to mention constantly bending over to change aim, clubs, etc.  You've got a great PC sitting there hooked up wirelessly, why not enable you to use it?

They've got everything they need.  They've got the wireless connection to the launch monitor delivering data to the PC, as evidenced by its ability to interoperate with GSPro.  I'm quite certain they've got the R50 software running on a PC for their development.  In fact I'd hazard a guess that the R50 is a small PC internally.  They just need to package it up to run as a consumer app on the PC.
