1:1 Aspect

I purchased a BenQ LW600ST for the short throw and 1:1 aspect ratio option. Unfortunately it won’t work with the R50. When I switch to 1:1 the BenQ logo comes up in 1:1 and then when it switches to the R50 it reverts back to a wider format and says it’s displaying in native resolution.

    The BenQ projector should be able to display 1:1 and the R50 will not allow that output. I've been on the phone with BenQ and they have assured me that while the projector is capable of scaling to 1:1 because the R50's resolution doesn't allow for this without being able to change a setting on the R50 itself that it won't work without being connected a gaming computer and changing the settings on the video card.

    The request for aspect ratio support to be available from the R50 settings has been added through your account, so any potential updates or announcements will be also emailed to you from Garmin as any become available for this request on the R50.

    Updated June 5th, 2025: 

    Software version 4.10 and GLM 3.9.0is now available to 100% of Approach R50 users. 

    Aspect ration support has been added for the Approach R50 when connected to an external display. Please keep in mind that any aspect ratio, display, picture, or other picture format settings offered on the external display you have4 the R50 connected to will also affect the way the image displays. 

    Keep an eye out for the update showing available to install.
