Range balls normalization

Even if Garmin suggest to use regular balls, my R50 works definitively good with Range balls, 2 over 100 shots are not registered, and I think it's not depending on ball type.

My Golfclub has Toptracer Range and without normalization carry, total distance, angles are very similar 4 to 6 yds difference and 1-2° difference, comparing with Toptracer numbers without normalization.

It's possible to insert the normalization algorithm on Approach R50 that would be really appreciated.

Best regards

  • This feature is definitely the most important one that is missing from the otherwise great package. If you were able to add this, I’d definitely be buying the R50.

I’d use the device only at outdoor range and I would need to be able to have a compensation algorithn to convert the metrics to display what they would have been in case I had hit a premium ball such as proV1. Trackman has this feature with several ball types to choose from.

Please, could you ellaborate if you have any plans to implement this feature?

  • The Problem is, there are range balls and range balls… I have used a MEVO plus before, and Flightscope software has the possibility to Switch to Range ball in the settings. But the range balls in the Club I am playing are not that terrible. With the MEVO I had the Problem that with Range ball selected the distances have been to much.
similar Problem at a Trackman Range at my area. If you switch to premium ball normalization the distances of the long clubs are a Bit to much.

  • As range balls are different, best would be some functionality to define different type of range-balls, so that we can fine-tune ourselves. But always getting this weird numbers from range-balls is really annoying a currently a big downside of R50 IMO.
