Feature Request: Select individual holes and build hole ‘playlist’

Similar to a couple of other requests, in HTH add a feature to play a specific hole to play rather than having to do the Pick Up 40 times to get 4 players to Amen Corner for example!

Allow players to play ‘Just the Par 3s’ etc.

Allow players to create their own playlist course, of specific holes from downloaded courses. Player could create a course where Augusta’s 11th is Hole 1, Pebble Beach 7th is hole 2, Road Hole is hole 3 etc.

These features would not be hard to develop, and would add so much extra fun and usage potential to the R50.

Has there been any comments from Garmin crew about adding such features? Seems like an easy addition that adds absolutely buckets of potential - imagine the YouTube content that will be developed?? It would be insane.

  • +1 this idea. Even as a basic start just allow the user to select which holes to play at a single course. I wanted to try TPC 17th but would have to play the first 16 or forfeit each hole manually until I got to the 17th, not a fun process.

  • Hello,

I have submitted a ticket for your request on this post and have added both of you to the ticket. If any announcements become available regarding this feature, you will receive an email advising as any new information becomes available.

Other users here in forums  should also express interest here in this thread, and I will get them added as the request is reviewed for future update considerations.

I will also update my verified response on this post will also get updated if any new information becomes available as well.

    - Thank you!

  • Agree - start with just being able to select the desired hole on a single course (or skip to it easier - ex: functionality to “select starting hole” when beginning the round - hole 1 is the default but you can adjust).  The ability to create a custom course of your desired holes is definitely a cool idea, but would be a bigger build (they’d need to create the concept of a new “course” to add to the directory, which leads to a bunch of other considerations - is it just for you, is it public which would create a bunch of other issues like copycat courses, etc.)

  • cody, your input and assistance and monitoring of these forums is super helpful and much appreciated

this feature would be a great add on

  • Thank you, and happy to help from our end here at Garmin!

  • I think there is a different way of doing it other than creating a new course for the directory. They could either create a number of ‘personal playlist’ slots, which are treated like an already downloaded course, your account comes with say 10 open slots for such playlists, you then pick your holes from courses you have downloaded and it copies that hole into the playlist course.

Or, they could build a true playlist function, like Spotify. You create a playlist, it’s treated just as 18 shortcuts, accessing the hole from the original course within the playlist. When you create a playlist on Spotify, you don’t create a new album, you just shortcut to a load of songs.

An even further development in the future could very well be public playlists, this opens up all manner of possibilities. Imagine…Garmin associated pros sharing their ultimate course, golf publications / broadcasters doing similar, or competitions where members can submit courses and the best get listed as R50 Playlists Courses. Could be a perk for winning the weekly HTH competitions.

By the way - Playlist is the perfect name for these ‘courses’, everyone understands the principle of a music playlist, and ‘play’ is the verb used for the game itself.

But let’s start simple - skip to x hole would make the system instantly more fun and usable.

  • I was thinking the same thing as you have suggested.  It all started with 17 lol.
