Using iPad as external display possible?

Information on connecting the Approach R50 to an external display, and the requirements for the connection are outlined on the Garmin Support article linked here: How Do I Use the Extended Display Feature on my Approach R50?

The Approach R50 connection display is as outlined below: 

• The connection from the back of the R50 Audio/Video (A/V) port requires an HDMI cable connection supporting at least 1080P. 

• If your projector, TV, or monitor has an HDMI® port, you can use an HDMI cable to plug the Approach directly into the display.

• If your projector, TV, or monitor has a DisplayPort you will need to use a powered HDMI to DisplayPort Adapter as well as a DisplayPort cable. This type of adapter requires a USB power source to be able to function.
