Smash Factor numbers seem very low?

Just curious if anyone else is seeing that smash factor seems very low when hitting?

Had a friend hit on my R50.. it was 3 degree's and i had to adjust the temps/altitude to get the distance numbers near to where they should be.. but... he firstly hit PW with 154 yard carry and a smash of 1.08.. then he hit 6 Iron with a 194 yard carry showing a smash of 1.11.

On Trackman these numbers are always mid to high 1.30's?

  • I can't complain about the club speed to be fair.. my R50 had my friend swinging slighly faster than he was on trackman.

But everytime i do that 1.094 multiplier on my distance i get to where the distance is showing pretty spot on.

Got another one for you though... didn't want to do it in this section i created but here we go.

Driver.. hitting 2.5 up.. didn't align it perfectly though... just did it by eye.. the driver head is a Qi10 LS 9 degree and the toptracer distance was 241 carry

Multiply 216.7 x 1.094 = 237.04.. not arguing over 4 yards... BUT.. that spin number??.. i think if i was hitting -4 maybe but 2.5 up??

  • This is a 54 degree SW. Carry showing 90 yds with club speed higher than ball speed.

This is before tennis elbow kicked in. Now I’m limited a bit but will be able to test a few shots hopefully this week. Elevation here is 4400’.

  • Going back to your PW. I can’t get the club faster than ball speed on a full shot and opening up the face. I can do it with the 54 SW.

Some of your PW shots probably weren’t showing over 100 yard carry.

i have no idea what is going on there!

  • Cheers for that

Managed to change the unit to metres yesterday.. managed to hit about 6 balls.. got about 3 decent strikes.. been very poorly over the weekend... sadly it is still the same 'percentage' down in meters as well... i was so hoping to see the carry distance become correct in meters.. lol

I think one of my biggest disappointments throughout this thread is that not one Garmin admin as even bothered to comment... ie... have you tried this?.. can you do this?.. what if you do this?... do you know what i mean?.. is their support really that poor?

I guess i am in the hands of my retailler now and waiting to see what Garmin say to them... but thanks again for all the input

  • Got my R50 replaced and finally got a chance to hit with it.. definitely much better now!
