Club data not matching ball flight

I've been having this issue pretty consistently where the club path and club face data aren't matching the actual ball flight.  I've attached the photo of my latest swing.  Club path 2.8 right, club face .5 right.  So i'd imagine this should be a draw, but it shows a heavy spin the opposite direction for a slice 40 yards to the right.  Anybody know what's going on here and how it could be fixed?  It seems very common, especially with driver.

  • Yes I see this sometimes. Also sometimes I get a draw with an open clubface wrt club path especially with the driver or woods. This can  happen if you have off center shots causing the gear effect (google on gear effect golf to get a detailed explanation). If you hit from the heel you get a fade if you hit from the toe you get a draw. How strong the effekt is is dependend on shaft flex and moi of the clubhead.

  • Ugh.  Unfortunately, this probably makes sense.

I don't think my Garmin R10 was calculating this and was just adjusting path and face estimations to make sense with ball flight (so it all looked correct) and I've now been enlightened to a new level of golf *** to add to my pre-shot anxiety Slight smile

Just kidding obviously, this is great information to have.  It makes sense that if I have great path and club face but toe the ball I wont see a 300 yard bomb with a nice draw.  I wish there was a way to see this, but I guess at least I'll be able to piece it together with the information provided and the knowledge of gear effect.

  • If your face to path was about 4 degrees you could have seen a push draw. Your face to path was open .5 degrees.

In to out swing which was good but the face was not closing enough at impact. Back spin was also high which  may contribute to the side spin being high. Side spin looks a little higher than I would expect with that club delivery at 102 mph.
