Awesome Golf Problems

I was able to use Awesome Golf prior to the 3.70 release.

The iPad can connect to the R50 on the ID displayed within the Connect screen on the R50.

However, Awesome Golf tries to find the R50 and consistently fails.

Was something broken in the 3.70 release that caused this.

This very expensive device, that looks like an iPad in a box, unfortunately doesn’t “just work” like Apple products usually do.

The Approach R50 connector to Awesome Golf is designed for the Awesome Golf PC platform.

I would note that the update list for 3.70 includes “stability fixes” for “third party sims”. Which leads to the suggestion something was broken for Awesome Golf.

One further update. Using the same wifi settings, Awesome Golf CAN connect to the R50 but only on my iPhone. Does not work from iPad. Something changed in the 3.70 release.

I was able to connect my R50 to my iPad Pro (5th gen). This is with the latest 3.70 release as well as the latest awesome golf version on iPad.

Your support article did not solve my problem because it did not provide the one bit of information that the Awesome Golf time did. That is, the “Allow Simulator to Access Local Network” setting must be On. You find this in the app setting for “Simulator” on the iPad (which is how Awesome Golf is referred to in iPad app settings). No doubt this setting is turned on by default and probably one of the young kids in my household turned it off inadvertently when playing around. So, the Garmin support article is, at best, incomplete. Thank goodness the Awesome Golf team provided excellent customer support. It’s all working now and it’s a great app.
